Overview
The Microscopy & Imaging Shared Resource (MISR) provides access to a wide array of well-maintained instrumentation for light and electron microscopy, an array of image analysis platforms, and advise and expertise to assist investigators with their microscopy needs. Imaging modalities supported range from conventional brightfield, wide-field florescence, laser scanning and spinning disk confocal, to more advanced techniques such as Förster or fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET), phasor-based fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLIM), fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP), second (and third) harmonic generation microscopy (SHIM), STED-based super-resolution microscopy, total internal reflection microscopy (TIRF), and multiphoton deep-tissue imaging. The MISR supports the imaging of fixed samples and live cell and tissue preparations, with automated image acquisition over long time courses in various culture ware, on systems equipped with environmental chambers.
The MISR staff provide advice on the optimal imaging approaches to achieving the desired research outcomes, assistance with experimental design, initial training and ongoing supervision with the equipment as needed, and help with image analysis and data interpretation.
