Instrumentation and Services

Technical Services offered:

  • Guidance in experimental methodologies and design
  • Technical assistance for grant proposals and scientific manuscripts
  • Assay development to fit users’ research-specific needs
  • Instrumentation and analysis software training
  • FCSR Sample Preparation: Cell staining services for cell cycle analysis and Annexin V apoptosis assays. Other sample preparation services can be performed by arrangement.
  • Analysis software and support is available through the FCSR.  A site license to FCSExpress 7 (for both Mac and PC platforms) allows researcher to analyze their own data.  Verity ModFit is also available for cell cycle modelling.

Cytometry Equipment available:

Georgetown Campus (four flow cytometers and one imaging mass cytometer)

  • BD FACSAria IIu Cell Sorter configured for three LASER (375 nm, 405 nm, 488 nm, 633 nm), 10 color analysis (BD FACS ARIA IIu specs).  Sorting capabilities include four-way collection tubes, variable plate sizes, and single cell 96 well plates.
  • BD LSRFortessa (2) flow cytometer analyzer configured for three LASER (405 nm, 488 nm, 640 nm), 14 color analysis (BD LSRFortessa specs); (BD LSRFortessa SORP specs)
  • BD FACSymphony A3 flow cytometer analyzer configured for five LASER (355 nm, 405 nm, 488 nm, 532 nm, 628 nm), 30 color analysis.
  • Fluidigm Hyperion for multiplexed mass cytometry (CyToF) applications for spatially resolved single-cell analysis of up to 37 Maxpar Metal-Conjugated Antibody biomarkers.
  • Malvern NanoSight for nanoparticle analysis.

Center for Discovery and Innovation Campus (four flow cytometers)

  • BD LSRFortessa flow cytometer analyzer configured for four LASER (405 nm, 488 nm, 561 nm, 640 nm), 16 color analysis (BD LSRFortessa specifications).
  • BD FACSymphony A3 flow cytometer analyzer configured for five LASER (355 nm, 405 nm, 488 nm, 561 nm, 640 nm), 28 color analysis (BD FACSymphony A3 specifications).
  • BD FACSAria III cell sorter configured for five LASER (355 nm, 405 nm, 488 nm, 561 nm, 640 nm), 15 color analysis (BD FACS Aria III specifications).  Sorting capabilities include four-way collection tubes, variable plate sizes, and single cell 96 well plates.
  • BD FACSMelody cell sorter configured for three LASER (488 nm, 561 nm, 640 nm), 8 color analysis (BD FACSMelody specifications).  Sorting capabilities include two-way collection tubes, variable plate sizes, and single cell 96 well plates.
