The workshops are open to everyone in the Lombardi community. Faculty and staff can register for one, two, or all of the following in-person Workshops. Decoding Team Dynamics: Mastering the Unwritten Rules of Collaboration

Effective teamwork in diverse, interdisciplinary research settings requires navigating implicit norms and expectations. This interactive workshop features a simulation game, providing a hands-on approach to uncovering the "unwritten rules" that shape collaboration, particularly in interdisciplinary teams. Participants will learn to identify and bridge differences in communication styles to optimize team performance. Anchored in the Movemental Model, this session equips academics with tools to foster trust and belonging in their collaborative work.

Enhancing Excellence in Academic Collaboration

This session guides participants through a deeper understanding of cognitive generosity and the impact this mindset has on academic research and outcomes. Through reflective exercises and actionable strategies, participants will examine how automatic thoughts shape decision-making, and how to shift into a more conscious response. Ideal for academics committed to improving their professional practice, this session integrates real-world examples and Movemental Model insights to highlight the importance of creating intentional environments that foster innovation and collaboration.

This workshop addresses the unique challenges academics face in high-pressure, mission-driven research. Participants will explore strategies for sustaining emotional resilience, managing workload, and maintaining hope in the face of setbacks. Grounded in the principles of the Movemental Model, this session emphasizes practical self-care tools, boundary-setting techniques, and cultivating a sustainable work-life balance. Attendees will leave equipped to foster personal well-being while remaining deeply engaged in their critical work.

All Lombardi DEI Programs programs and activities are open to all Lombardi / oncology trainees, staff, and faculty regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, or any other characteristic protected under University policy.

Transportation: You may use the Georgetown University Shuttle free of cost. The shuttle runs every 20 minutes Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. The shuttle stops are Lombardi Circle, 2115 Wisconsin Ave, 37th and Calvert St and back to Lombardi Circle. This route generally takes between 3 and 7 minutes between each stop. Use the shuttle pickup timetable plan your trip.

Parking: You can park directly in the building ($12 all day). The parking garage is directly below the building with an accessible entrance from the parking garage to the elevators. The entrance to the parking lot is at the end of Whitehaven Street, NW. From Wisconsin Avenue, turn onto Whitehaven St, NW. Follow Whitehaven around to the back until the road ends at the entrance of the Colonial Parking. You may follow this Google map instructions.
