Environmental Programs
Environmental programs create peaceful, healing spaces in both public and exam areas contribute to patient well being. The light-filled Atrium with its soothing blues and greens invites visitors to relax and enjoy the blend of permanent and changing exhibits and frequent performances. A colorful and imaginative mobile created by pediatric patients and caregivers greets visitors at the entrance to Lombardi. Monthly art exhibitions draw attention away from health concerns with images that transport the viewer through color, texture, shape and form.
Atrium Art Exhibitions
The public can view the work of guest artists on display in the Atrium. Art work is selected for qualities that are intriguing and inspiring, while remaining sensitive to the unique needs of our diverse community. Exhibitions have included the medical students’ art show, a doctors’ show, tapestry weavings from The Wednesday Group, a NYC weavers’ group, and the works of prominent artists from the Washington metropolitan area. Twenty percent of all art sales is contributed to the Arts and Humanities Program.
