Peer Review Experience and Mentorship Opportunity

The Journal of the National Cancer Institute Early Career (JNCI) is now accepting applications for its JNCI ECI Editorial Mentorship Program . This is an opportunity for Early Career Investigators to become reviewers for manuscripts that match their area(s) of expertise after completing reviewer training through the end of 2026. Training is virtual via Zoom or Teams.
DEADLINE: June 30th.
ELEGIBILITY: Postdocs, oncology residents and fellows, and early career researchers within 5 years of the award of final degree or final training experience (whichever is later). Applicants should have published at least one peer-reviewed manuscript, preferably as the first author. Some peer review experience is preferred, though not required. Should an individual be offered a position to participate, a certificate to verify successful completion of the freely available on demand American Chemical Society Reviewer Lab or Clarivate’s Web of Science Academy (“An Introduction to Peer Review” and “Reviewing in the Sciences” modules) will be required before the start of the program.
TOPICS: Learn about journal’s peer review process functions, and the role of an editorial board. Review best practices in writing and publishing, peer review process with a reviewer training component, editorial leadership shadowing, journal social media, and publishing ethics.
