The Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center Diversity Equity and Inclusion Office is happy to announce the next three workshops in the 2025 Workshop Series. Faculty and staff can register for one, two, or all of the following in-person workshops. Read a full description of the next three workshops below:

Decoding Team Dynamics: Mastering the Unwritten Rules of Collaboration
DATE: Wednesday, March 18, 2025

Effective teamwork in diverse, interdisciplinary research settings requires navigating implicit norms and expectations. This interactive workshop features a simulation game, providing a hands-on approach to uncovering the “unwritten rules” that shape collaboration, particularly in interdisciplinary teams. Participants will learn to identify and bridge differences in communication styles to optimize team performance. Anchored in the Movemental Model, this session equips academics with tools to foster trust and belonging in their collaborative work.
Enhancing Excellence in Academic Collaboration

This session guides participants through a deeper understanding of cognitive generosity and the impact this mindset has on academic research and outcomes. Through reflective exercises and actionable strategies, participants will examine how automatic thoughts shape decision-making, and how to shift into a more conscious response. Ideal for academics committed to improving their professional practice, this session integrates real-world examples and Movemental Model insights to highlight the importance of creating intentional environments that foster innovation and collaboration.
Navigating High-Stakes Research: Balancing Pressure, Purpose, and Well-Being (Optional yoga class at the end)

This workshop addresses the unique challenges academics face in high-pressure, mission-driven research. Participants will explore strategies for sustaining emotional resilience, managing workload, and maintaining hope in the face of setbacks. Grounded in the principles of the Movemental Model, this session emphasizes practical self-care tools, boundary-setting techniques, and cultivating a sustainable work-life balance. Attendees will leave equipped to foster personal well-being while remaining deeply engaged in their critical work.
