GMaP Region 1 North Call for Applications for 2024-2025

Early Stage Investigators – new investigators that also are within 10 years of completing a terminal research degree/medical residency or equivalent- are invited to apply. The deadline to apply is October 15, 2024 and multiple projects will be awarded up to $10,000 (direct costs) each.
To be eligible, applicants must be:
- A student or early-stage investigator at an institution located within the GMaP Region 1 North coverage area: DE, KY, MD, ME, NH, VT, WV, DC;
- Interested in developing a competitive Diversity Research Supplement or F – or K-series
application. - New or Early-stage Investigators cannot have previously competed successfully as a
Principal Investigator/Program Director for a substantial NIH independent research award (e.g., R01), but may have obtained small research grants (e.g., R03) or other NIH training related awards.
Application details:
- Project period of up to 8 months beginning November 1, 2024 (earliest start date) and ending June 30, 2025.
- Only one investigator per application can be designated the project lead.
- At least three awards will be made from this announcement, but the number of awards is contingent upon the available funds and the submission of meritorious applications.
- Budgets should be presented in general categories and require detailed explanation.
- Direct costs less than or equal to $10,000.
- F&A costs for your institution are allowable, in addition to the direct costs.
- IRB approval for the pilot project (if applicable) must be in place before awards can be made.
- Applications will be reviewed by GMaP Region 1 North investigators.
- Applicants will be notified within 10 days after the due date.
Examples of allowable costs: Project supplies, animal maintenance, research subject payments, meeting/focus group expenses, and travel to present findings.
Examples of unallowable costs: Costs in connection with faculty degree requirements, graduate student tuition.
