Membership Details

Full Member: LCCC Basic and Population (non-clinicians) Sciences Tracks

A. Membership Responsibilities

  1. Regular attendance at one or more Program meetings (clinical and/or research meetings)
  2. Active involvement in writing grant applications for individual and/or project funding
  3. Active development of publication record on cancer in peer reviewed journals (including current projects underway)
  4. Involvement in some aspect of translational cancer research
  5. Defined arrangement with a more senior Program Member for career mentorship.

B. Senior Membership Criteria (to serve as Associate Member mentor)

  1. Regular attendance at one or more program meetings
  2. PI of one or more peer reviewed grants
  3. Solid current record of publication on cancer in peer reviewed journals
  4. Active involvement in some aspect of translational cancer research
  5. Willingness to serve as a mentor for a more junior Program Member(s) and participate in some aspect of cancer education, including community outreach education.

Full Member: LCCC-GUH Clinical Science Track

A. Membership Responsibilities

  1. Regular attendance at clinical program meetings
  2. Active involvement in writing grant applications for individual and/or project funding
  3. Active involvement in publication of scientific papers/chapters on cancer
  4. Mentorship of Clinical Fellows
  5. Involvement in clinical trial leadership/accrual
  6. Involvement in some aspect of translational cancer research
  7. Defined arrangement with a more senior Program Member for career mentorship.

B. Senior Membership Criteria (to serve as Associate Member mentors)

  1. Regular attendance at clinical program meetings
  2. Either PI on one or more peer reviewed grants or leadership of one or more clinical trials
  3. Regular, substantial accrual of patients to cancer clinical trials
  4. Regular publication of peer reviewed articles and other publications
  5. Involvement in some aspect of translational cancer research
  6. Willingness to serve as a mentor for a more junior Program Member(s) and participate in some aspect of cancer education, including community outreach education.

Associate Member: Non-clinician or Clinician at Georgetown University, GUH, and other MedStar or regional hospitals

  1. Must activly conduct cancer research and/or education
  2. Must actively seek peer review funding for their research
  3. Should develop a defined mentorship arrangement with a senior Full Member of the LCCC to facilitate career development in research and funding.

Clinical Associate Member: Clinicians at GUH and all other MedStar or regional hospitals

  1. Must enroll/refer patients into clinical trials
  2. Must engage in cancer center educational activities as a mentor
  3. Must demonstrate ongoing support for educational community outreach to the Lombardi/MedStar region.
