PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR
Elmer E. Huerta, MD, MPH is the Principal Investigator (PI) and a member of the LACRC Steering Committee. He strengthens this project through his pioneering work using the media to create a Cancer Prevention and Control Program. His clinic at the Washington Cancer Institute in the Washington Hospital Center is the only cancer prevention/screening service for Latinos in the Washington, DC metro area. Through his educational work, Dr. Huerta has developed a high degree of respect and trust in the Hispanic community at the local, national, and international level.
COALITION PARTNERS
The LACRC is made up of the Washington Cancer Institute of the Washington Hospital Center, nine community clinic sites serving the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area, the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Schools of Business, Medicine and Nursing of Georgetown University. LACRC also works closely with the Mid-Atlantic Division of the American Cancer Society, the regional National Cancer Institute (NCI)—Cancer Information Service (CIS) Office and the Spanish-Language CIS support line.
