Avon Walk for Breast Cancer

An up-close-and-personal view of some of our country’s most famous and treasured monuments is what you can expect on the Avon Walk Washington, DC on May 4-5, 2013. From the heart of our nation’s capital you’ll witness celebrated symbols of patriotism, walk along the trendy streets of Georgetown and through leafy suburbs and undiscovered neighborhoods. The sights and sounds of this Avon Walk never fail to inspire and you will be an inspiration yourself as you help raise awareness and funds to battle one of breast cancer’s hardest hit areas.

Walkers will participate in the 39-mile, two-day walk with thousands from around the world. You can walk it all, or walk as much as you can. Each walker is responsible for raising $1,800. It is a significant commitment, but we’re all in this together so you'll have all the tools and team support you’ll need to meet, and hopefully exceed, that goal.

We’ll walk up to 26.2 miles on Saturday, and 13.1 miles on Sunday all so that medically-underserved women and men can get the medical care they need and leading research teams can receive vital support for their ongoing search for a cure.

The Avon Foundation places a priority on returning funds to the geographic area in which each Avon Walk takes place with a special emphasis on reaching low-income, elderly and minority populations and those with inadequate health insurance.

In the past, funds raised through the Avon Walk supported Georgetown Lombardi’s own Capital Breast Care Center, which provides mammograms to women of the DC area regardless of their ability to pay.
