Medical Team

We invite doctors, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, nurse practitioners, physician Assistants, and lay folks to join our GUH-sponsored Medical Team. The team provides medical care throughout the weekend, from Friday afternoon through the closing ceremony on Sunday, treating walkers and crew for everything from blisters and joint injuries, to seizures, gastrointestinal bleeding, and many cases of dehydration.

Medical Directors for the Walk, Peter Shields, MD, and Brendan Furlong, MD, estimate that last year’s medical team treated more than 1000 women. The medical facilities were fully equipped with supplies donated by GUH and Lombardi, and had the ability to administer intravenous fluids, IV medicines, and oxygen.
