Cancer Biology, Prevention & Control
A Unique Opportunity
In partnership with the University of the District of Columbia (UDC), Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University Medical Center offers Master's Degree Program in Cancer Biology, Prevention, and Control. Candidates are accepted into the program to become graduate-level cancer researchers in cancer biology, prevention, and control.
The UDC is the only university in the Washington metropolitan area to offer a Master's Degree in Cancer Biology, Prevention, and Control. Georgetown Lombardi's partnership with UDC, a minority-serving institute, provides a unique research and training setting.
Training for the Future
The demand for biological and medical scientists who are trained to conduct biomedical research focused on cancer biology and health disparities in minority populations is a focus of academic investigation and government funded research analysis. Employment opportunities in biological and medical science grew rapidly throughout the early part of the decade and this trend promises to continue, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The need for highly educated biological scientists in the educational system to serve as teachers and educators for students at all levels will provide career paths for students interested in training toward teaching.
