Home » EducationCancer Biology, Prevention & ControlA Unique Opportunity For the first time ever--the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) in partnership with the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University Medical Center, will administer a Master's Degree Program in Cancer Biology, Prevention, and Control in fall 2004. During the first year, five students will be accepted into the program to study to become graduate-level cancer researchers capable of conducting research in cancer biology, prevention, and control. The UDC is the only university in the greater Washington metropolitan area to offer a Master's Degree in Cancer Biology, Prevention, and Control--and to be affiliated with the only comprehensive cancer center in the nation's capital. Training for the Future The demand for biological and medical scientists qualified to conduct biomedical research focused on health disparities continues to grow. Interest in cancer and the Human Genome Project has increased research in the public sector and within private research laboratories. Employment of biological and medical scientists is expected to grow faster than any other profession through the year 2005, according to labor statistics. The need for biological scientists will also exist in the educational system as teachers and educators, on all levels. The Campus Affordable tuition and conveniently located in beautiful northwest Washington, DC, the UDC is easily accessible by public transportation and has its own Van Ness/UDC Metro train stop.
