The Patient Advocate Foundation is a national non-profit organization that serves as an active liaison between the patient and their insurer, employer and/or creditors to resolve insurance, job discrimination and/or debt crisis matters relative to their diagnosis through case managers, doctors and attorneys. Patient Advocate Foundation seeks to safeguard patients through effective mediation assuring access to care, maintenance of employment and preservation of their financial stability. Their web site, at www.patientadvocate.org, contains a variety of resources and links to other sites that might be of assistance in understanding insurance and managing financial difficulties brought on by costly care. Kelly Anne Dolan Memorial Fund
The Kelly Anne Dolan Memorial Fund is a non-medical resource center providing advocacy, information, resources and financial assistance for the uninsured needs of families caring for terminally, critically or chronically ill children. This fund provides direct financial assistance by request for things such as transportation cost, parking, phone bills, utility bills, rent, camps, child care, clothing, equipment and the like. The Fund has also produced a very helpful educational video entitled "Financial Management During Crisis". Please note however, that requests for assistance must be made through a social worker, case manager or physician, so if in need, please speak with a Lombardi staff person.
