Speaker Bios


Andrew Putnam, MD, Assistant Professor of Oncology and Medicine, Director of the Palliative Care Program, Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center

As a palliative medicine specialist, Dr. Putnam works with cancer patients to maximize their quality of life, whatever their stage of disease. Most of his patients are actively receiving chemotherapy or other treatments for their cancers. Dr. Putnam’s main interest is pain and symptom management in people with cancer, as well as doctor-patient communication. He also teaches at the Georgetown University School of Medicine and the School of Nursing & Health Studies about about pain and symptom management and end-of-life care.
