Jennifer Eng-Wong, MD, MPH

Breast Cancer Oncologist & Medical Director, Capital Breast Care Center

Jennifer Eng-Wong, MD, MPH

Jennifer Eng-Wong, MD, MPH, joined Lombardi in September 2007 as an attending physician in the adult hematology/oncology clinic and is holds an appointment as assistant professor in the Department of Oncology. Dr. Eng-Wong is a breast cancer specialist whose main area of interest is cancer prevention.

"I realized the way to make a dent in this disease is to focus on prevention," she says. "Treatments for late stage disease aren't going to have an impact on cancer death rates."

She was named medical director for the Capital Breast Care Center in 2008, where she works to increase cancer screening rates for women in the District of Columbia. Washington, DC has one of the highest mortality rates from breast cancer in the country.

Dr. Eng-Wong previously worked as a staff clinician at the Medical Oncology Research Unit of the National Cancer Institute. She received her medical degree from the SUNY-Stony Brook Medical School and her masters of public health from George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services while she completed a joint fellowship in cancer prevention and medical oncology at the NCI. She is principal investigator of several clinical trials and conducts research on the impacts of physical activity and endocrine agents on breast cancer risk.
